“Margynall”

alias Delphine de Marsangy 

Margynall is a French woman artist based in Singapore.

THE ARTIST

Delphine’s passion for art began in her childhood in Africa and grew stronger over the years. She used to be a Designer in visual communication and owner of a Design agency in both London and Hong Kong. She has been painting for over 20 years during her spare time.

In 2023, she decided to reveal her work for the first time. A whole new artistic journey began.

WHY MARGYNALL

The unprecedented global crisis of COVID-19 in 2020 served as a turning point for Delphine. We, as humans, exist on the margins of a greater ecological system. We are all marginal creatures, stardust, in the grand scheme of the Universe. Perhaps, our egos should behave accordingly.

This very change of perspective inspired the genesis of the persona "Margynall": a fusion of her family name, Marsangy, and a profound philosophical reflection on humanity's existence.

Albert Einstein once said: “Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.” This is a priority for our future generations, for our planet. 

 

Interestingly in French, "Marginal" also denotes being different, non-standard, and unusual; qualities that thoroughly resonate with most artists. Margynall was born.

 

 

ART AS A UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE

Margynall has always been acutely aware of the passage of time and the pressing challenges our planet faces.

Art is her exutoire, a journey to a dreamlike world, oscillating between nightmares and aspirations, between hopes and doubts. 

Via artistic expression, she shares a glimpse of her distinctive universe, transcends linguistic boundaries, explores the subconscious, and escapes the constraints of reality. 

 

 

ARTISTIC PROCESS

Margynall's artistic process is a fusion of surrealism, pop art, and abstract. 

Some pieces are meticulously researched, while others are born purely from instinct. Her inspiration derives from dreams, music, travels, and most recently the global challenges humanity faces. She describes inspiration as a wild feline: indomitable. Whilst painting, she finds herself entirely captivated. She strictly disconnects from the world outside and immerse herself entirely in the precious realm of timelessness.

ENGAGE, INTERPRET, REFLECT

Her work is a reflection on human emotions, an invitation to express feelings and unleash imagination. 

Sensitivity is precisely one of the few assets that sets Humans apart from AI. She believes this quality is essential these days, for creativity, empathy, introspection and communication. 

Her work aims to help people reconnect with their innate sensitivity. Through her paintings, she shines a light on issues close to her heart, ensuring they are not forgotten: the environnment, women's right, and the vital connection between Humans and Nature.
